Folk music and art music have always been closely intertwined. Through my zither and harp playing, I engage deeply with Alpine folk music traditions, always guided by an openness and curiosity toward diverse experiences with other musical genres.
A refined aesthetic sensibility and technical perfection in my music-making have led me to highlights of my artistic career, such as being invited as a zither virtuoso to perform “Tales from the Vienna Woods” with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra under Kurt Masur and performing zither as guest musician for the Christmas celebration of Germany’s record-holding soccer champion, FC Bayern Munich.
My debut album “Der Weg zum Herzen” (A Way to the Heart) and the digital recording of the film score “The Third Man” are a tribute to Alpine heritage and Viennese Heurigen music.
I acquired the necessary skills for my artistic, academic, and pedagogical work worldwide during my studies in Vienna and Munich. At the mdw Vienna University of Music, I passionately passed on this expertise and knowledge to a younger generation.
With passion, expressiveness, and a spirit of discovery, I immerse myself in diverse musical traditions from around the world. Enriched by this abundance, I create project and performances that showcase my passion as a soloist or feature subtle ensemble interplay.
I want to share my fascination with the Bavarian musical heritage and my openness to a wide variety of classical and intercultural musical genres. I invite you to experience music lessons filled with diverse musical encounters and emotional connections.
Gain insight into fascinating research projects! I bring together art and science in ethnomusicological research. In 2014, I earned my Ph.D. from the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with my dissertation “The Zither in America.”
As a musicologist and musician, I accompany the educational trips organized by Smithsonian Journey with passion and dedication:
